Report

Not the start of the season that was planned, a trip to Canterbury was never going to be easy but a disappointing display and a disastrous result was not the way to start.

We started fairly well and were perhaps unfortunate not to get a penalty after 5 minutes when a Joe Sands cross appeared to be blocked by a hand, but within two minutes Canterbury hit the post when it looked easier to score and things went downhill from there.

On 15 minutes a corner from the left came off the top of Lewis Rivett’s head and found its way in. Canterbury had most of the play but Woodstock made a few dangerous breaks but couldn’t find a way through. Woodstock may have looked to half time to settle things down but Canterbury struck twice in the last 3 minutes of the half.

A Couple of changes at half time made little difference and 7 minutes into the half a attempt to black a cross by Russell Jeffrey saw another own goal. Sports then had their best period and started to force City back. On 70 minutes Jeffrey got on the end of a cross to head home and Sports saw a glimmer of hope. Some good opportunities were created but unfortunately wasted and they were made to pay on 80 minutes when a mistake allowed City in for their fifth. The nightmare was increased with a sixth in the last few minutes.

  • No scheduled fixtures.
